30 years of Vicious

30 years of vicious

One of Vicious’ biggest hits over the last 30 years was from Australia, with Mr Timothy featuring Inaya Day ‘I Am Tha 1.’ A true belter of a vocal house tune, the original version not only topped the Australian ‘ARIA Club Chart,’ but it also peaked at number 24 on the Australian ‘ARIA Top 40 Chart’ in 2004.

As we celebrate ‘30 Years of Vicious,’ we welcome house music maestro CASSIMM to remixing duties on this classic.

The remix builds through the intro with shuffling drums, dropping into the bassline groove before the first snippet of Inaya’s iconic lead vocal.  Bring in the piano keys and the remix continues to groove its way through, before a drop and the return of Inaya’s magical vocal hook.

Overall, this provides proper house music vibes for house heads with CASSIMM’s classic yet contemporary style, that has seen him feature across the Traxsource charts over the past few years.

‘STAR2FALL’ – CABIN CREW (FREEJAK REMIX)

A former UK Top 5 Pop Chart hit, the classic ‘Star2Fall’ by Cabin Crew gets re-interpreted by none other than Freejak, as he brings his feel-good house vibes to this remix.  Uplifting, anthemic and unapologetically catchy, Cabin Crew’s massive hit is remixed for the first time since its original release and Freejak has certainly delivered, keeping all the original hooks and bringing a fresh production vibe for 2022 and to celebrate ‘30 years of Vicious!’

Vicious have added an amazing chronology to their website from 1992-2022 discussing their biggest Artists & Releases

Vicious Records’ ‘Be Rich Records’ sub-label, (formerly Vicious B*tch), is where Peking Duk first released their music and ‘High’ (featuring Nicole Millar), to this day is Be Rich’s most streamed track, not to mention Peking Duk’s all-time most streamed track.

Continuing the celebrations of ‘30 Years of Vicious,’ with many significant back catalogue highlights getting remixed, who better to tackle this true anthem than the queen of disco herself Mell Hall.

Mell brings her vibes to ‘High’ with a killer groove.  Think fat beats, funky bass and her customary disco swagger.  Adding luscious piano, lovely chords, then drop the iconic Nicole Millar vocal on top and you have a genuine weapon of a remix that is primed to take ‘High’ onto dance floors once again in 2022.

The second remix to drop of the classic ‘My Feelings for You’ (as part of our ‘30 Years of Vicious’ celebrations), we’re delighted to welcome Toolroom Records’ head honcho Mark Knight to remixing duty.

Mark’s signature house music sound has remained a staple of Beatport and Traxsource charts since they first started, not to mention on vinyl before the digital era of music began.  Recognised as one of the world’s most well-known DJs and producers, Mark adds his own flavour to the almighty Avicii & Sebastien Drums’ hit.

A powerful and funk fuelled house vibe is the recipe for success here.  Complete with the original hooks blended seamlessly with Mark’s unique trademark groove and a super slick arrangement that punctuates the theme.  The full vocal teases as the tune really starts to kick, firing forward with an energy that will lift any crowd.  Adding a cheeky, well timed Pete Tong sample paying homage to Avicii’s legacy, adds to the sustained emotion of the track.  We’re super happy to have Mark Knight remix this iconic track for us, and for his mix to be part of our pinnacle ‘30 Years of Vicious’ celebrations.  He’s wholeheartedly delivered an incredible version that’ll fire up floors across the world without a doubt and does the original club anthem the justice it deserves!

“It’s a big deal getting to remix Avicii.  He’s without doubt one of the most talented producers we’ve ever seen – a modern day genius who was taken from us far too soon.  I wanted to keep my remix sympathetic to the original, while also putting my own stamp on it, so I took it back a little closer to the vibe of the Gwen McCrae source material – loosening things up a little and giving it a bit more of a disco flavour.  I was honoured to be asked and I hope people connect with the results.”Mark Knight
